Siemens CFX65 is a dual band clamshell style cameraphone. At the top of this model is a curved section that neatly houses the phone?s loop aerial, and there are two colour schemes on offer: ?Blue Pearl? and ?Chameleon?, the latter of which will change colour in response to different light conditions. With its stylish good looks, this mobile phone has been designed to appeal to young people as well as consumers who want a reliable and simple MMS phone.

Among the features included in this phone are GPRS and WAP technology, MMS multimedia messaging, speakerphone for hands-free conversations, voice memo recorder, Java? enabled, LED flashlight, and e-mail client.

Being a clamshell model there are the usual dual displays incorporated into the CFX65. The large internal cSTN screen has a high definition resolution of 160 x 128 pixels, and it can also reproduce up to 65,536 different colours. The smaller external screen is a black and white display with a resolution of 96 x 64 pixels, and this allows you to see who is calling before you open the phone.

The CFX65 has an integrated camera of VGA quality, which allows you to take pictures with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. Other points worth mentioning about the camera features are that it has a 4x digital zoom, and a LED flashlight (that doubles as a torch) is also included to assist with the taking of pictures in poor light conditions, or as a fill-in light for taking portrait shots. However, Siemens do offer a much better alternative with the optional plug-in IFL-600 - a proper strobe flash with integrated sensor to check flash level - and this provides the equivalent of the normal camera flashgun facility. With its MMS capability this phone can send and receive messages containing a combination of still images, text, animations and sound.

As there is a big demand to be able to personalise the look and sound of a phone, the CFX65 comes preloaded with pictures, wallpapers, animations and sounds. You can download more new polyphonic ring tones, logos and backgrounds when you want to add something special to customise the phone more to your particular taste.

Being Java? enabled means that this phone also has the capability to run a wide variety of different Java games and applications, and some of these programs are preloaded. When you want to try something new you can quickly and easily download these programs over-the-air.

The CFX65 has integrated GPRS technology for faster data transfer rates, and this also has the added bonus of providing you with an ?always on? connection, where you pay for the amount of data you actually use rather than the length of time you are connected to the network. The WAP 2.0 browser also gives you the means to access the mobile Internet from this phone, and this enables the user to gain fast and easy access to the information and services now available, such as news, sports, entertainment, weather, traffic, online banking and business news, etc. An e-mail facility is also provided, so you can keep in touch with your e-mail correspondence while on the move.

There is a choice of connectivity options available to the user of this phone. You can make a wireless infrared link up to compatible IrDA devices, such as other phones, PCs and PDAs, or you can also use the standard USB and RS232 data cable connections. Once you have established a connection with the other device, you are then in the position of being able to transfer files and data between the two, and this enables you to synchronise your calendar, phonebook and to do list with that on your home PC, for example.

Among the phone?s personal organiser and other useful applications are a to-do list, notes, world clock, alarms, calculator, currency converter, and calendar. This model also has a photo phonebook so you can see who is calling from their picture on the display.
