It has been a very long time since I used a phone that wasn't in the clamshell design, but I quickly converted! I decided to forego the W300 because although it is a flip phone, it was just too tiny. ...I've used a few Cingular phones including the Motorola RAZR V3, Cingular 8125, Nokia E62, Nokia 6682, and Blackberry 8700C. This W810i has them all beat when it comes to call quality which is all that really matters to me. I think it's nice that it comes with a built-in FM radio even though there're no FM stations in my area to my liking, and although I haven't loaded my phone with MP3 songs, I was able to take my favorite & convert it into a ringtone, which made me very happy.
I also like having a 2mp camera which will hold me until I replace the digital I recently sold.
Regarding volume: I personally have to turn down my volume. It took me awhile to find out that when I use my bluetooth headset that in addition to turning up the volume on the headset I also needed to turn up the volume on the phone itself which in turn increased volume on the headset. Once I figured that out, it turned out to be TOO loud! In the event you're wondering about the phone itself, the volume goes up to number 8 and is more than loud enough. I have never used the phone with the supplied earphone, only either alone up to my ear, on speakerphone or with the bluetooth headset.
I know at some point there'll be better phones on the market, but too many manufacturer's have placed too little emphasis on call quality which is the main purpose of buying a wireless phone. I have no complaints with this phone-it runs circles around the others in call quality.
