Panasonic KX-WP1050 Approved For USA
The FCC has just approved the Panasonic KX-WP1050, a phone that is designed to work with Skype. In case you haven?t heard, Skype is a Internet telephony provider that gives users the ability to communicate like a telephone over the Internet.
The KX-WP1050 has a Skype base station that is always connected to the global web, as well as the handset. Looks like it should be able to do everything a regular cell can, with conference communication, call queuing, voice mail, and call history. One can?t help but wonder if telephony will replace cell phone networks as we know it. It doesn?t look like that would happen any time soon.
No word about when the Panasonic KX-WP1050 will be released, nor any price. This may be one of several Skype or telephony phones you may see in the next year or so.
