I got this phone free with a new contract. Its a tease.. but let me get into the pro's and con's of this phone before I give you my opinion.
Pro's
1.3 mp camera.
Video Enabled
USB port for PC connection and charging of the phone
Speaker Phone
Voice Command Button
PictBridge
32768 kb of memory
Voice mem...o
Notepad
Scheduler, Calendar, Tip Calculator... etc
Ringtone, Voice Memo and Picture Assignment
Bluetooth enabled
Con's
Voice command button is located at the side of the phone.
Ringtones are boring midi's.
USB cable not included
Software not included
Limited transfers between phone and PC
My thoughts on the pros:
I like the 1.3 mp camera. I even managed to get a few printable pictures out of it. Video is a neat feature but not great quality. It does have a USB connection (purchase data cable separately) which is cool to load your pictures into your computer, and have the phone charge in the process. It's neat to have the picture assignment feature. You can see the picture of the person calling in your sub-display. You can also assign a ring tone to particular contacts. I am not sure if 32768 kb's of memory is a lot for a phone, but I did manage to store 80+ pictures in this phone, before I downloaded them into my computer.
The speakerphone and voice command can come in handy I suppose, but the sound quality and need to repeat yourself for voice recognition is tedious. Of course this phone has other little features like calculators, alarms schedulers etc., if you like or need that sort of thing.
My thoughts on the cons:
The design of the phone stinks. I am constantly hitting the voice command button when I handle the phone and when I place it in my cell phone holder. In addition, push the wrong button and the phone wants to connect to the internet. Its very internet oriented.
The ringtones that come with the phone leave a lot to be desired. If you enjoy midi's of Super Freak, or Imagine, @@ then you may actually enjoy this phone.. lol. You can buy ringtones at sprint, however they are only licensed for 90 days.
The USB cable didn't come with the phone so I purchased it separately online. Got the cable, and then realized, it wouldn't work without the software. So I made another purchase for the software. The seller sent me a CD that would not read in my computer and the answer from cellphoneshop.net was ..... "Download it free from the company at mobileaction.com". HUH? I paid $25.00 for software that doesn't work, and he informs me that I could download it free at the company's website? Grrr.. well that may be better left for another review.
There is limited (if any) transfer capability from your computer to your phone. I can transfer pictures from my cell to my computer but not vice versa. I can load my contacts from my cell to my computer.. but haven't tried the reverse.
In summary.....
If you can get this phone for free, and don't care about the issues I have stated, then by all means choose it. However, I would not go out of my way to purchase this phone. The usb capabilities tease you at first, believing you will have more control over the content in the phone. You don't.
If I was purchasing a phone, i'd invest my money in a phone with a Smart Card, so that I wouldn't have to break the bank just to have a cool ringer, and purchase additional accessories to get pictures out of my phone.
